Comedian/actor Chris Rock hosted the number one stunning awards ceremony and welcomed audience to 'the black World Cup'.
Rock was at his wittiest best when he mentioned the infamous elevator clash of Jay Z and Solange Knowles and Dr. Dre's $3-billion Beats deal with Apple.
"Now let me get this straight: An 83-year-old white man doesn't like black people. Is that news? First of all, a black man couldn't look him in the eye until he was 45. The first black person he even met he got for Christmas," Rock told the audience and everyone got laughing.
The star-studded night was dominated by 'Happy' Pharrell Williams's phenomenal performance of his latest song Come Get It Bae.
Hip hop queen Nicki Minaj rocked the stage with her electrifying performance to her world wide trending song Pills N Potions.
Soul singer Lionel Richie, 65, was also honoured with the lifetime achievement award for his outstanding musical journey as part of Motown group The Commodores.
"Soul is a feeling, not a color. Talent is a god given gift and not a category, and out of the box is the magical place where true talent goes to thrive and breathe," Richie said in his award acceptance speech.
